So. I went and built something today with what I had lying around. I will post a pic tomottow but is basically the item in the 1st youtube vid. I drilled a hole at the front, tapped it and inserted a copper nozzle that I drilled a 3mm hole in. I heated up the lead and let it flow directly into the water with a 3cm drop and this is what I got:

I then used a nozzle with a 1.5mm hole and this is what I got:

Based on what that article says, I need to use a nozzle eith a 0.8mm hole in it. Also I should weld a piece of metal sheet at an angle onto the bottom so the lead from the nozzle drips on it and basically bounces off and forms the pellets. The bottom plate needs to be hotter than the lead and fluxed. I will give it a go tomorrow afternoon and share the results ok.

Try dripping into very hot or near boiling water. This will allow lead to cool slower, and form spheres because each droplet will be protected by a layer of steam.

So the bottom plate should be about 3cm long, at 30 degrees and about 9.5mm away from the nozzle. It should be smooth and fluxed/chalked.

Machine coolant, diesel and fabric softener are common coolants used for shot making. Make sure to keep it cool while making shot.

There is very few of us making good quality shot.
Cause it's like fishing, nobody shares their secrets.

    Temp of lead and coolant
    What type of coolant
    What mixture of lead
    Angle of dripper
And so the list goes on.

Took me close on two years, And although it's perfectly round and looks great, I'm still not 100% happy but no pigeon has complained yet

I'd be honest, if I weren't shooting 12k - 15k rounds a year I wound have made shot (I would have just bought ammo)
