Re: Type56 Advice
The type 56 no matter what version you get isnt even remotely close to a Saiga. This aside from the fact that the Saiga uses the latest updates and materials, the type 56 being more closely related to the 47.

Re: Type56 Advice
It's a generic handgaurd I've had since day one, cost 900 bucks
Can use irons, I've never mounted an optic to it
Got a side mount installed, doesnt allow me to cowitness the irons, but holds zero, and didn't cost 4k haha
For my purposes it's been freaking awesome,
Will the type 56 break? Prob not,
Do they use them throughout africa? Yes
Is the saiga a better put together weapon? Yes
Will they both do what you want them to? Yes
End of the day the saiga will come with the side rail etc standard, that's a saving in itself
Go for the saiga if it's in budget

Re: Type56 Advice
I am waiting for my licence card to be printed for my Type 56. One of my arguments FOR the T56 is that I can spread the expense over time. Buying a T56 gets me in the game sooner.
I prefer to buy my toys cash, as I'm fairly debt-averse. Current financial situation means that if I wanted to buy a nice AR (or a Saiga), I'd have to save up for some time more before I could purchase. I could afford the T56 now, start shooting sooner, and modify over time as funds allow.
If I start taking it as seriously as I do handgun shooting at the moment, I might replace it completely with a more suitable platform.

Re: Type56 Advice
you wont go wrong either wayif i was concerned about "rough finish" or edges etc, i wouldve gone for a galil or a different platformend of the day the type 56 will work, and work well, else the thousands that have been sold would all be going back for repair by now

Re: Type56 Advice
With the RHS folding stocks, can you work the safety? Just in the off chance you may need to fire with the stock folded
