Im in the Aluminium business. And our workers use these chemicals on Aluminum Windows and doors that got paint messed over them during building.
It doesnt do anything to the Anodizing.

If you have alu sliding door or window at home. You can test on it. Wont do anything.
Of course it won't do anything to the anodising. Same can probably not be said for he expensive and irreplaceable anti-reflective coatings on the optics...

Precision optics and sliding doors aren't the same.

But the paint is on the scope not on the optic lenses?
He is not gonna submerge it.
You apply to affected area where paint is.

Pc...Have a squizzie at the scope covers.

Not sure how you would affect their integrity if you had to cut a slot out on the bottom of the cover to maintain barrel clearance.May be possible to make a plan.

No this is a good option, and I have thought about it. Perhaps I must just try it.Thanks.

The flip-up lens covers I have come from Butler Creek and Vortex. Slightly different design, but they work. I also don't like cleaning lenses, as regular cleaning will eventually abrade the lens coatings.

All of them hold on by stretching over the lens housing. If you cut the bottom, it will not sit tight. It might be possible to place some double-sided tape around the housing to hold the cover, with the bottom cut away. I have used double-sided tape to fill the gap between an oversized lens cover and the scope housing.

How far are the eyepieces from the ocular lenses on your scopes? On none of mine are they far enough that I would risk using any of the chemicals you suggest close to the optics. Additionally, at least thinners and paint stripper may well also damage the rubber of the eyepiece.

Any paint on the rubber eye-piece will likely wear off from normal use. Just ignore it, and it will go away eventually.
