Re: Taking over a Z88 and other questions...
Thanks for all the quick responses guys.
I was under the impression that only a dealer can handle the transfer of the FA. Nice to know it won't be necessary.
Would it help my application if I join a shooting club first as part of the motivation, which I did plan on doing anyway?
Competency Certificate will obviously cover both Sec13 & 15 licence applications?

Joining a shooting club will definitely not hurt your chances.
It makes sense for numerous other reasons in any event. So just do it.

Re: Taking over a Z88 and other questions...
Any recommendations for shooting clubs on the Eastrand? (Gauteng)
Silly question (since I haven't done competency yet), but both guns and ammo can be kept in 1 safe if both licenced to me?
And another... Hypothetically speaking, what would happen if I used the Z88 in a SD situation if it's registered as Sec15 and I haven't got another FA yet?

What G33 said about Golden City.
Yes. You can keep your guns and ammo in the same safe.
If you use the Z88 in a situation where the use of a firearm to defend yourself is call for, the section under which it is licensed is irrelevant. So you will be fine if the defensive shoot itself was warranted.

Re: Taking over a Z88 and other questions...
When shooting a Glock, or any other striker-fired plastic pistol, learn to properly control the trigger. This is easier than learning the long DA first pull on any DA/SA pistol like a Z88, but still takes some training.
Only after learning to operate the trigger properly, can you determine wheither you like shooting the pistol or not. Not that personal taste is of any importance in the greater scheme of defensive pistols.
Just to put this into perspective, I shoot revolvers competitively, always using the (even longer) DA trigger. Most striker-fired pistols have triggers that are much easier to control well than those on revolvers or the first DA pull on DA/SA pistols.
