French wild boar season open

Hi All

The Hunting season in France has started from the 15'th of Aug in certain departments. Not mine yet but in our neighbouring department. A friend of mine got lucky on Saturday and shot one of the biggest boars that I've heard of in our area. The one on the right hand side is 116kg and the big one on the left weighed in at a staggering 178kgs!!! Edit - Sorry Admin - can you change the spelling of Seoson to SEASON. Thanks

178kg of pig - wow ! Wild boar will have to go on my bucket list now.... hope you have just as much success when your department season opens... good luck !

Spoke to my mate who shot it. 1 shot with 300 win mag was all that was needed - right behind the shoulder.

Awesome. What gun and ammo are you using ? Shotgun with slugs ?

BGL - he used a 300 win mag. I've got a 308 Marlin XS7. It is mostly the older guys that uses shotguns with slugs. Although a lot of guys carries slugs with them when they go hunting pheasants in case a pig presents itself.
