This may be urban legend and perhaps Pirate or Skaaphaas could correct me if I'm wrong but I understand that South Africa was also one of the country's targeted for aerial reconnaissance by this aircraft. Its target was the Vastrap nuclear test site during the late 1970s. Obviously the SAAF had no intercept capability even if they wanted to but could track them on radar - apparently stones were arranged to spell out a message to the passing Americans that could be photographed along with the test site.

Something along the lines of "SAAF rules, USAF that way" with an arrow indicating the direction to travel.
