Re: More about IPSC (A FAQ thread)
I can confirm this. Coming from an IDPA background I have to say IPSC is a shitload of fun. many shooters from other disciplines are hesitant to give IPSC a try because they think they will be ridiculed, not as fast, don't have the correct holster, funny shirt etc.
In order to enjoy it you just have to pitch and shoot, the more you do it the better you get at it there is no hypothetical-tactical-mental-block group-consciousness issues that make you shoot this or that way because it will affect your "street survivability index". You just learn to make hits in the most efficient way in the shortest time possible.

Re: More about IPSC (A FAQ thread)
If you listen to US podcasts and look at some US Forums, you will see a lot of discussion on classifications, A B C M GM etc. We use a different system to determine those and more importantly we pay them a whole lot less attention. Guiys look at overall results a lot more.

Re: More about IPSC (A FAQ thread)
@SafeAction
Club fee's vary quite a bit. Two of the clubs I am a member with run at R400.00 per annum. My other club is R1400.00.
NGPSA affiliation is R400.00 and SAPSA is R700.00 (There are sliding scales for mid-year etc, and reduced rates for spouses and family members.)
I have no idea what the other provinces charge for affiliation for their respective province.

Yip. Ranking only really comes into play at the end of year prize giving if you belong to a province or club that gives out medals for performances during the year

Re: More about IPSC (A FAQ thread)
To add to DS Vier's etiquette portion.
There are a lot of guys who take their shooting very, very, very seriously. If you shoot with these guys, you will be able to start picking them out quite easily. As such, between the time they are on 2nd standby till after they have finished shooting, be prepared to give them space and do not interrupt them if you are able. They are using this time to focus and prepare for their run. Give them the space to do so
Any other time than that, a good sense of humor and socializing is always welcome.
