WINCHESTER MOD 61, .22 WRF
I have the opportunity to buy this classic for R12k. Including 700 rnds of fresh ammo. Serial no equates to manufactered in 1934. Shoots great. Bit worn in appearance. Worth the price? What is the availability of .22 WRF ammo? Any advise appreciated.

Re: WINCHESTER MOD 61, .22 WRF
22WRF ammo is hen's teeth. Winchester and Remington seem to make small production runs occasionally. If you can get somebody to import a small stash for you, you may be able to enjoy the rifle.
Some of these rifles have been converted to the readily available 22 WMR, which is the same diameter, just a little longer. This also destroys any collector's value.
In the end, you should decide: Do you want a collectible rifle that you might not get ammo for, or do you want a shooter. For R12k I can think of some very decent rifles, new and used.
