O yes, it is allot of fun, what makes it special is the fact that Dr Barnard has an unbelievable passion for firearms, so this festival is not a business it is a place where he and his guests can enjoy the freedom of firearms and have fun with it.

Every year more and more people get involved and help, the one great part that is on the festival is the BASA Bigbore range, this is a range for fun, the guys play bigbore all day, we introduced a life size Elephant target a few years back and it made for allot of fun.

Then he has a bit of history there as well, the Boer and Brit Range,if you just want to play, that is the range for you.

then we should not forget the major competition PMP hosts, this is the main attraction of the day, average guys with their hunting rifle compete to become part of the grouping PMP Qualifiers and great prizes, you should see the energy among the guys at that range, if you have never been to this event try it once, YOU WILL BE HOOKED.

We just want to remind Gunsiters of the TAMBOTI TOYOTA FIREARMS FESTIVAL on 28 August 2010.
Note the name change: Ellisras Toyota, one of our main sponsors, has changed to TAMBOTI TOYOTA, therefore the TAMBOTI TOYOTA FIREARMS FESTIVAL.

This Festival has been running for 12 years now, and is aimed specifically on the normal "person on the street" firearms owner and enthusiast.
    Our mission is :
1 To encourage safe, responsible and lawful firearms ownership and usage.
    2 To have fun shooting.
3 To encourage this as a family activity.

The following items will be happening the whole day:
-ProAmm grouping shoot with own hunting rifle, and ammo suplied by PMP, in any of the PMP calibres, shoot your best 3 shot group over 100 metres.
-Junior training, .22. For the under 18s, training with .22 rifles under the guidance of experienced hunter/trainers.
-Clay target shooting. With 12 bore shotguns, have a go at flying targets on our trap range. Loan guns available.
-Big bore shooting. Calibres 9,3 mm and up. Under guidance of BASA (Big Bore association of SA). Shoot at big game targets, some charging, some running away. Here we dont ONLY shoot, we stress-test you and your rifle!
This is one of the official BASA shoots.
-Black powder : BP instructor who can help you with either your own, or a loan muzzle loader to "make smoke".
This year we also have a Martini Henry item. Shooting at falling plates with own rifle and ammo. Prizes in this item, are some Martini Henry doppies made by Ken Stewart.
-Handgun; a firearm instructor will train you to get that .38 snubbie out of the handbag, and use it.
-Boer and Brit shoot: In teams of 4 , against the clock, kill enemy falling plates at 100 metres. Offhand shooting, iron sights and manual actions only.
-Active hunting range: a simulated hunting experience with .22 rifle. (Own or loan.)

The day is concluded with the prize giving and a huge kudu potjie as well as wors and sosaties dinner.

Camping is free, on the site. There are also hunting lodges on neighboring farms if you need more luxury.

WARNING: GPS INSTRUCTIONS: When going to the shooting range from Ellisras/Lephalale, DO NOT listen to your GPS voice. There is a detour around the Medupi Power station construction site which the lady in the GPS dont know about. She will direct you all the way back to Ellisras!!! Just follow the road signs saying "Steenbokpan". Once past the Medupi site, you can again listen to the GPS, or look out for "Knapskoot skietbaan" and "Lemetfort 303" signposts.

Firearms Festival was a huge success.
Lots of enthusiastic, and well behaved shooters spent the day with us.
What is striking, is the ever growing group of campers from Gauteng and elsewhere camping on the grounds. The lodges around the venue were also fully booked. We are planning to expand our camping facilities for next year.

All the ranges were exceptionally busy, and about 130 people attended the prize giving ceremony followed by the Kudu braai and potjie.

    Will post some photos soon.
