    Default Private seller

Is there anything but the 271 that I need to give the buyer for him to apply for a license for the firearm sold to him? I'm the current owner and not a dealer. I therefore do not have the 350 information.

I also added an affidavit to my app signed by myself and the seller stating the guns were sold to me. While technically not needed, I added it as they were my grandmothers, and I felt it couldn't hurt.

The seller will keep the gun and have an active licence until the buyers licence gets approved correct?

My DFO asked me for letter of sale from seller.
They dont ask for it on 271.
So not sure if it was needed.
As there seems to be differences between DFO's and what they want with 271.

Unless you know and trust the seller.
Always good idea to consider storing at a dealer.
Or have it transferred to a dealer stock. And then applying from dealer.

My DFO now wants a SAPS 534 (Transfer of Firearm Ownership) and a letter from the seller.

SAPS 534: No space for buyer as natural person, only Dealer or Gunsmith. ??????

Everyday any DFO adds new rules

If you're buying direct, no 534 needed

    No 534 needed.

The letter of sale is not strictly a requirement, but many feel it's a good idea so as to prove that this is a legit sale. There have been cases were signatures on the 271's were forged, and the gun was taken off the owner's name without his consent.
