Default "Smith & Wesson debuts new G19-size M&P Compact 2.0 pistol"

Here's the link to an article on the new M&P compact 2.0: http://www.guns.com/2017/09/11/smith...ct-2-0-pistol/

and the gun collective also mentions it in their latest video:

Looks like S&W are also now taking Glock on in the compact pistol market by finally launching a true Glock 19 competitor. I also wonder whether fans of the previous generation M&P compacts will be disappointed, as those pistols filled a gap betwenn a G26 and G19 sized pistol.

I looked at it quickly the other day, and I do believe it's going to G17 size if measured from rear sight down the magazine.

My S&W SD 9 was also a 15-round gun but carried much like my G17.

Aren't you referring to the full size model?

Ok. But compared from side to side with a G19 as on that Brownells video, they look very similarly sized. It is definitely shorter than the G17.

The internet makes too much of the "dangling pinky" effect... I would very much like to know why the new size makes this M&P-shaped G19 a better carry gun than the older Compact version. And then, why one will buy this over a G19 in the first place.

The older 9c has a 2rd edge over the G26 for negligible difference in size. If this is tbe same size or bigger than a G19, for the same round count, why not just get a G19?

Very keen on this, have found the G19 to be about the perfect size for most days, and the M&P has great ergonomics - hope they have improved the trigger a bit too.

For the same reason people would buy a Sig, HK, or Beretta (those manufacturers come to mind with similar sized guns), because you can. Not everyone wants a glock, for whatever their varied reasons might be.

16 Round, you even made me pull the spare mag out to quickly double check.
