Default Steyr pistols: where do they fit in?

We stopped at Zimbi today and I had a look at the Steyr L9-A1 and S9-A1 pistols.

A thought hit me: where do they fit in and how do they compare to the other polymer brands?

Dr Google gave a few positive reviews and googling "Steyr L9 complaints" did not deliver anything.

    Can anyone give more info?

in RSA where the importer is about as dependable as a politician on the Guptas payroll, not high.

Thanks. Two things stand out: the triangular front sight just begs to be picked up; the pistols have marvelous triggers.

They also allow for full size magazines to be used in the compact pistol.

That's true, but it's also true of GLOCKS. When I owned a 19 I carried 17+2 mags as spares.

Similar sights I'm sure can be found for other guns

Most pistols allow the use of large mags in compact pistols

The sights are honestly shit. They offer no advantage over normal post and notch sights and massive disadvantage. They're a marketing gimmick.

These pistols had great potential. But Steyr dropped the ball a bit.

If you must have an Teutonic pistol with no support go buy a VO9. That's at least a great gun.

Thanks T, I have no intentions of buying one.

They pop up in advertising at a good price but I know very little about them.
