Rocking a C series G1 variant FN-FAL here, it's the one rifle I'll never part with willingly! Plenty of Australian manufactured L1A1s in NZ but original Belgian FN-FALs are comparatively rare.

Thanks TS, interesting comment on some of the Rhodie Fal's being stamped .308. I bought mine from a Rhodie who said he was with PATU

Rick, IIRC the .308 versions were originally built as match or sporting rifles and not military rifles.

As I understand it, the guns are still 7.62 X 51.

The roll marks were applied to overcome import/export restrictions on military small arms and for sale in countries where "military" calibers are prohibited for possession by civilians.

I seem to recollect having read somewhere that the .308 Match items had better grade or specially selected barrels but nothing about different chambers. Rick, maybe slug it and let us know unless rebarreled?
