What IDPA Division??
Hi folks
Starting out on my IDPA journey for the first time on the weekend.
Doing my first NSO and Classification.
I will be using my standard Glock 19 to begin with.
My question is what division should I shoot in?
I know the G19 will be legal in the Stock Service Pistol division, but should I rather opt to compete in the Compact Carry Pistol Division?
I assume shooting the G19 in the CCP will give me a better advantage with a shorter barrel than competing with people in the SSP division?
Also, for those that shoot IDPA with a G19, does it meet all the "box" measurement requirements for the CCP division??
Thanks - Would appreciate any advice from those that compete in IDPA...

Re: What IDPA Division??
The CCP division was more or less written specifically for the Glock 19.
It will work well in that division.

Re: What IDPA Division??
The G19 is GTG in CCP SSP and ESP, but it isn't the best choice for the latter two as bigger guns are allowed.
CCP was almost made around the G19 and it's the best fit for the gun.
Should you shoot CCP instead of SSP?
Being new to the sport you it really does not matter. With the new classifier you will be classified in all the divisions equally.
So you can actually shoot both.
CCP will give you a bit more mag changes. Which can be a good thing.
SSP has a bigger field of competitors.

CCP, and as for being competitive with Glock19, 2nd and 3rd overall at the recent BDPC league were shooting G19 in CCP.

Re: What IDPA Division??
Starting out I would suggest SSP.
Less reloads, the same capacity as the majority of competitors, so it gives you an opportunity to focus on learning the game. Once you have the hang of it then look at increasing the challenge.

Re: What IDPA Division??
iirc there is a slight time advantage shooting the classifier in CCP as apposed to SSP
