Replacing SD firearm ?
What is the procedure to replace a SD firearm ?
Seems like catch 22 - if you have a SD firearm, you can't have another, unless the first one is sold, which means several months without a SD firearm.
A search on the forum brings up an old discussion where it was understood that any firearm that is licensed can be used for any lawfull purpose.
Specifically, how to replace one firearm with another on a SD license ?

Re: Replacing SD firearm ?
I replaced my SP1 with a Glock.
Motivated for SD with a letter from a gunshop stating intent to purchase my current pistol.
Lady from CFR phoned me to say my license had been approved, pending transfer to the dealer.
Took my pistol to the dealer, received a copy of the 534 stamped by their DFO a few days later and faxed it to CFR.
Received my new S13 card a week later.
That said I already had an extra pistol licensed for sport, so I still had a carry gun while waiting on the card for my new S13.

Re: Replacing SD firearm ?
Why not just license the new pistol on S15/16?

Re: Replacing SD firearm ?
I booked my first SD firearm in at a dealer to get if off my name and applied two days later for two licenses: the new SD license as well as a sport license for the previous SD firearm.

Re: Replacing SD firearm ?
Unless you want a second one. The easiest way is as per DS J above advice.
Couple years back I replaced 1 SD with another. And wrote it in my app.
At one point a guy from CFR phoned me and said its approved but I need to send them proof other one is removed from my name.
Before they issue card. I then went to dealer and did the 534 transfer. Then later sold it.
Currently however all my firearms even my SD is on S16 licenses.
Off the 10 I currently have all are S16. None S15 or S13.

Re: Replacing SD firearm ?
I went long way round. Sold my S13, booked into dealer stock. Bought my new gun, applied for licence, and carried a S16 gun in the meantime.
Sent electronically, thus not signed.

Re: Replacing SD firearm ?
Am I under the wrong impression? I thought you can only carry a S13 as EDC otherwise you have yards and yards if paperwork to fill in if you want to carry a S15 or S16?
