    Nice article there Miami JBT.

Is it just my imagination, or are there some similarities to the AR-18?

None what so ever.... the ROK took ideas from the M16, FAL, and AK.

I had the opportunity to shoot that rifle during military exercises in South Korea a few years ago. Pretty sweet shooter although I followed the standard practise of tapping the loaded mag on my helmet before inserting into magwell. Not sure if they had feeding issues cause my rifle shot flawlessly. No wobble in the folding stock either.
