Re: What PDW options do we have in SA?
I guess it is going to depend on your definition of a PDW.
Wiki says https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_defense_weapon
In SA we do not really have the exotics like the FN PDW type rifles.
I would say a Scorpion Evo with a 10" and shorter barrel would be a PDW. The shorter the barrel the more PDW it gets.
The 10" AKs with folding stocks would be PDWs imo and I would classify a shorter than 12" AR with folding stock and even with a telescopic stock as a PDW.
The Styer AUG with 16" barrel is the same OAL length as a 10" AR with stock somewhat extended and it could also be regarded as a PDW imo.
The Swiss Arms/Sig 553 is a PDW in my book - 10" barrel and folding stock.
So what is practically an available PDW in SA? The Scorpion Evo, 10" AKs, 10" ARs and maybe a few more.Last edited by DS; 30-10-2017 at 08:38.

Bump on this. Some years ago NEA CCS was the in thing. What happened to them? Who is the importer now?

Try Paul at TacShac for the NEA.
also speak to Gerrit at Hailstorm for a BCM 9" 300BLK carbine, with pistol-length gas system, if that's short enough for you.

These rifles are really high-spec, and not too highly priced.

IMO, and this will most probably be where the CCS stock or a folding stock come in, for a true PDW take a look at the available and size carry options / bags that you are comfortable with and that will fit your lifestyle first. This may be a moot point, but the FCA specifies that your firearm holder / bag must have been designed for that purpose.
