Default Re: Which jacket for cold weather to get?

Ski jackets, I would really take a look at Arc'teryx, by no means cheap but quality/top of the line clothing and the brand comes from a skiing/mountaneering background.

For general wear out and about, any necent winter clothing will be fine ( merino underwear highly recommended )

It really depends on what you are planning to do out in the European winter, skiing, hiking /over night stays out in the forests etc or just walking about in the town.

If more static, then thicker layers and more insulation. If highly active and moving, then thinner layers with good moisture transfer properties.

I'm on the train back from schweinfurt to frankfurt to catch my flight back to sunny sa. What I can say is that it's kak cold here right now but nothing to unbearable the jackets here are relatively cheap and built for this weather. So buying one here is a def option. I found insulating with layers was key. Oh and a good beanie
