More than just knives - my tiny collection
The knife bug has bitten me... I am obsessed with EDC folders now thanks to the forum My three big knife lusts currently are (one day when I'm big) an Andre Thorburn folder, Burger Folder and then a Knox Bad'ger.
Anyway my old man is immigrating to Italy where you cannot EDC a knife! You may only have a knife on you for a specific purpose while executing a specific task like hunting etcetera as far as my understanding goes. I thought how much poorer he would be because of this ludicrous law.
Some of us attach a sentimental story or event to the knives we have and I thought it would make for interesting reading if we shared some experiences or events we have had with our blades? My very poor/humble knife collection so far (not pictured my new CRKT M21 on me):
- The biltong knife (top right) was given to me by my mate, his father in law made 4 of them. Each of us who ran Comrades together got one. For 6 months we saw more of each other than our own wives! We ran 2100km in preparation for the Big C and had loads of time to chat while running and grafting hard together. Some special bond occurs when people "kak off" together and go through the same experience. Excuse my french.
- The Morakniv was given to me by the Mrs as part of my birthday gift. I used it for the first time when we hiked the Ribbok trail together. 2 days of hard hiking in the beautiful Golden Gate area. Special and the knife worked very well
- The Kershaw Coral Creek folder was the first pocket knife my dad gave me, I remember the strict instructions not to cause kak with it and destroy things as well as the promise of a good caning if I did transgress. I was a laaitie then but makes me laugh now
- The fixed blade bottom right was done on a knife making course recently with NW Knives (Jaco de Kock). My FIL only has daughters and so I invited him to do the course with me recently. This was a great success! It furthered my lust for blades now and got me a few brownie points with the FIL hahaha. We actually get on very well.
Anyway enough rambling! I can only imagine some of the stories MrMedic, DsJ and the other great forum members have concerning their blades. Pray do tell.

Re: More than just knives - my tiny collection
Very nice collection Nathan , it's always great to hear the stories behind the knives ,where they came from and when/where they were carried 😁
