    A 6,5 Cal bullet has a diameter close to 6,7mm. Shooting it through a perfectly aligned silencer with a 8,6mm hole, would leave less than 1mm clearance between bullet and baffles.

    While the least possible clearance may be desireable, it also increases the risk of the occasional bullet contacting the baffles due to 1 of many possible reasons.

    I will contend that the design of the supressor has more bearing on it's effectiveness than the clearance between a bullet and the baffles.
