IMHO for RDS (for an MSR), Aimpoint is the only way to go.

What will it do better vs say a Vortex Spark AR? Yes I know they're "the standard" but can you justify your statement?

Battery life is much longer, its also substantially tougher.

They are tier 1 RDS's. Battery life is something in the region of 5 years for the Micro's (when left on at the lowest setting), as T said; they are very tough and the quality of the optics is phenomenal. So yes, I can justify my statement.

Like I say, I'm just looking for some objective, factual data to back up all the claims online about the Aimpoints and find out if they're really so much better that say Holosuns and Vortex etc. for your average user. Watching torture tests on YouTube, seems like Holosun and Vortex are pretty damn tough themselves.

You can look at you tube "torture tests" and you can look at track record.

The cheapies wil probably work most of the time, but there's a reason the Aimpoint has the reputation it has. And its got nothing to do with tractorshagger5298 dropping one on You Tube.

Imo the only competition for the Aimpoint Micro in that size and setup for AR use is the Trijicon MRO.

The main differences between the top tier RDS and the rest are the circuit and illuminator technology, toughness of the circuits and outer shell and controlls and the anodising.

Iro of battery life the Aimpoint for example uses a microscopic led for dot illumination which results in ultra low battery discharge and life of around 5 years on a constant on setting 8 out of 12 with one CR2032 3v button cell lithium battery.

Thanks again, the suggestions keep coming, awesome!

Where can I look at aimpoint prices? I cannot find any retailers?
