I have no problem with the chinese eating cats and dogs even dolphins. If they can do so sustainably good on them. Differentiating between animals based on what we perceive as cute or based on personal experience with said animal has never made any sense to me.

I have eaten all sorts of thing but the Chinese beat everything. I agree they should be able to eat whatever you want once it can be sustained. Although I am not sure how our western type fillet steaks meat eating culture is sustainable. Having said that I was talking to a fishing buddy of mine who came across some indigenous fishermen in a canoe fishing, As well as no such thing as catch and release they were also "gattying" every little bird and duck and even killed a leguaan. When asked why as they usually they dont eat it, Their reply was we do not eat but the Indochinese do, Unfortunately there is a mine nearby full of them
