Default Introduction to IDPA at CDPC

At Centurion Defensive Pistol Club we are very excited about the new process that will allow non-members to participate in a number of level 1 shoots.

Our 13 January club shoot will be dedicated to introducing new shooters to the game. It is always nice to try new things in a group, so we'll squad them together and throw some more experienced shooters into the mix to show them the ropes.

Courses of fire have been designed specifically to introduce Prospective Shooters to all the different aspects of IDPA shooting, without overwhelming anybody. Every stage will highlight something new, and by the end of the day everybody, from the accountant to the fireman, should recognise something that excites them. The format should also be ideal for existing shooters who want their Significant Others to experience their sport, even if they don't really plan to join. Remember, it is the last weekend before all the chaos of school athletics, hockey practice etc resumes.

Formal notice to go out soon. In the mean time, contact me at training@cdpc.co.za for inquiries.

    Thanks guys.

We'll work around what equipment you have available as much as possible. Minimum would be a pistol with two mags. Work on 100 rounds to account for the pre-match assessment, the standard club match and some extra rounds. Your license, of course.

A holster and mag pouches would be next on the list, but we will have some available or work around it. If you don't have a holster, a gun bag or box to keep the pistol in between stages. If you don't have mag pouches, we'll have some available, or you can work from your pockets.

If you want to, you can bring some sort of concealment garment (jacket / shirt hanging loose over pistol) but you won't miss out on anything if you shoot without it.

We'll have eye and ear protection available, but please bring if you have.

Hat, sunscreen, something to snack on and enough to drink. That should be it?

    Prospective Shooters

Non-members should also register via Practiscore, using the following information:
    https://practiscore.com/cdpc-handgun...-club/register

(*Yes 2017 in link is still correct, but the match will be in 2018 )

SADPA number – ZAyymmddINITIALS (yymmdd being your date of birth)
    Division – NFC
    Classification – NO

Follow the process to squad yourself in Squad 1 and once full squad 5
A short summary of the safety rules and most important game rules will be sent to all Prospective Shooters beforehand. Please read through it.

Activities for Prospective Shooters will start at 7:00

You will receive an introduction to the safety rules and be required to do a pre-shoot assessment, as required by SADPA.
This will include a practical portion where you may be required to shoot up to 30 rounds. (Therefor budget for 100 rounds in total)
Thereafter you will shoot the CDPC January Club Shoot with everybody else. There will be experienced shooters available to give further guidance and answer questions.

    Minimum equipment requirements are:

    A pistol with two magazines.
Prospective shooters may share guns with members or other prospective shooters.
    100 rounds of ammunition

If you don’t have a holster, bring a suitable box or gun bag to carry the gun in between stages.
If you don’t have magazine pouches, we may have some available or you can work from your pockets.
A concealment garment (jacket or shirt covering the gun) may be used but is not essential.
A very limited number of eye and ear protection will be available. (Can’t be shared.)
Please note “closed” shoes are required, as sandals/flip-flops are not suitable for the terrain.

Hat, sunscreen, something to snack on and enough to drink. (e.g. Water/Soda's/Energade..)
If you need more info, please send Marius an email at: training@cdpc.co..za
