Immigrating to Canada
Sup guys.
So I had a look but couldn't find anything on the subject for SA.
Me and the family are moving to Canada around May this year.
I want to know if anyone knows how I can take my guns with (or at least some of them)
I know you have to apply for a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL), and do a safety course.
My question is, how is this possible if I am in SA because surely its not catered for here.
And ok, so maybe we have to go there first for me to do this. Where do I store my gun(s) in the mean time? Or can it be done in Canada via Customs or their Police Department until I have the PAL (that would be so convenient).
I know I will have to get an export permit for the gun(s) from here (by the way, does anyone know the process for this and costs?
The ones I want to take with are only hunting rifles, but there is one that has serious sentimental value, and I am not willing to part with it in any way.
We are moving there permanently of course.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated?

Re: Immigrating to Canada
The short answer is to sell and buy new ones there.
It depends on how much sentimental value is attached to the rifles, and how much you are willing to spend. Do not be surprised if the cost to get the guns there is more than their value.
As for storage, store at gunshop till you have everything done on your side then ship the guns.

Google SACanada and check out their Facebook page. The question was asked on there before. Many have done it but dont expect to take handguns.

Re: Immigrating to Canada
Try Suburban Guns.
They deal with exports and might be able to assist.
