Legal requirements for heavy safe
What are the legal requirements in terms of the FCA with regard to a heavy (2 tonnes +) safe that can probably only be moved by crane - I know that usually safes should be bolted to immovable structure, but not even sure if it will be possible in this case. Are there any "allowances" for this due to the weight of the safe?

Re: Legal requirements for heavy safe
A safe weighing more that 200kg does not need to be bolted down.

Re: Legal requirements for heavy safe
I read somewhere of a guy who has a 1-ton (something like 960kg) safe in his house, and when the cops came to do inspection they asked "why is it not bolted down" so he just laughed and explained the weight to them. They accepted it as such, or something like that. I suspect it might have been a forum member even.
EDIT: Yeah, 200kg isn't a lot at all. My 6-rifle safe, empty, already weighs like 86kg.
EDIT2: Anyway, point is, I suspect you're in the clear, OP. :D

Re: Legal requirements for heavy safe
This question has been lingering for a long time:What if i have 3 x6 gun safes all bolted together?
(i) Will the legal weight requirement apply?
(ii) Will the fact that this configuration cannot be removed from the room/mancave,ie.through the door,be in any way aplied in lieu of boltdown?
Do not mean to hack the thread, just wonder if someone else also pondered this?

Re: Legal requirements for heavy safe
Answer will most likely be "it depends". Does the person/inspector see it as a whole (single unit), or as 3 units bolted together which can be separated. Also if one door gets compromised you might be able to undo the bolt.
To add to your conundrum, what would happen if you weld 3 or 4 safes together?
