Gert, I’ll come along if only to look (don’t own a Martini yet.) Vratvark on the other hand does own a few, and goes all wobbly at the knees at their mention.

CC, you will enjoy it..we stay at Hansies`s hunting camp..I really need to go to enable me to get my Martini Henry to shoot accurately. It is a joy to shoot it and I want to hunt with it as well..

Hi have come to realize that fine tuning these old warhorses is a bit of a dark art...
On a different subject. When on the hunt what is the cleaning regimen for the BP guns? I’m assuming it’s not a detailed strip and scrub with hot water?Don’t take life too seriously, no one gets out alive.

CC, we clean the rifles the first day when shooting at targets to determine where your rifle groups at 80-30 meters. When completing the zeroing of your rifle , we cleaned it just before we walk out of the camp...for the whole time no scrubbing just a 2x4 with oil through the barrel...after the hunt back at home you take everything apart and wash it with hot soapy water....

Ok. No problem, and I take it no rust issues, no cementing of nipples ect?

Re: 1883 Black Powder Hunt at Weltevreden Farm (2018)
CC, I managed to get hold of four thick Bennox steel plates..I will be cutting the anvil from these plates. It is extremely hard steel plates and will suffice as an anvil surface..
