Default Splitting a box of ammo amongst duly licensed firearm owners

    Hi Gunsiters

I've wondered what the legal position is on splitting a box of SD ammo amongst duly licensed firearm holders. By this I don't mean trading or doing it for a profit motive. Just a box of (expensive) SD ammo 50 rounds which you want to split between two or three people without getting into legal problems, and reimbursed purchase costs. It's the type of ammo that would otherwise never be used, as these are not regular shooters.

Would this be after the said ammo has been function tested or before? Ammo needs to be tested in your firearm to ensure reliability, thus a box between 2 or 3 people is not a viable option.

It is a concern, but the the legalities of splitting ammo between licensees is the issue here.

    It's a non-issue. The law doesn't prohibit it.

Yeah shouldn't be a problem. It's like mates buying a case of shotgun ammo together and then splitting it between them.

Don't overthink it. It's a non-issue, as Wheezing Hero has stated.

    You are doing shotgunning wrong

We normally buy 20-25 cases, to get the bulk discount and then split it among 3 or 4 guys
