A reciprocating saw is much nicer to use than a chainsaw for butchering.

    Refer to post 35
We have tried a reciprosaw on a giraffe. It didn't work.
Had to resort to the chainsaw

Correct. They used an axe to cut through the breast bone.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread.
How was the giraffe hunt ?
    How did the slaughter go?
How did you transport the meat back home?
And how was the taste of the meat , I was planning on hunting a giraffe but sceptical on the palatability of the meat.

Do it, you won't regret it. Just don't shoot an old bull or try to cook the meat. Mince, biltong and sausage is great.

I thought you shot the giraffe, maybe cut it into quarters and loaded it - hell i would have been in for a shock.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I have been offered the opportunity to do a Giraffe hunt at a great price. I am just playing with some numbers. What is the average dressed weight of a bull? Thanks a lot.
