    Default Fourways Farmers Market

    Fourways Farmers Market feedback.

After a sitdown meeting with the owner of the Farmers Market, long discussions on Whatsapp and telephone conversations... we are nowhere.

GOSA tried to facilitate a solution to the situation that would NOT involve firearm owners being denied access to the market or being forced to put themselves at risk of contravening the Firearms Control Act. It seems we were unsuccessful.

    Sorry, we tried.

Wait what - they don't want legal carriers there?

They have implemented metal detectors and now bar legal firearm owners from accessing the premises. Their security were telling people to leave their firearms in their cars... at least they stopped that!

They then wanted to put in a bank of safes, I pointed out to them that the FCA demanded that a firearm owner had to have sole access to their firearm, and that dual keys (duplicates held by the security company) placed both parties in conflict with the law.

The backstory is that one of the GS mods was stopped. He then posted a negative review on the FFM Facebook page which blew up quite badly.

The FFM approached GOSA asking that we assist.

We tried, but I get the feeling the FFM was just trying to soften the blow of the negative reviews on the Facebook page. I am worried that they may try to take legal action against the commentators.

Yeah, it's entirely fair comment that we advertise that they are firearm UN-friendly so that none of our members is embarrassed there or tempted to break the law.

Yeah I would also like to know when they implemented this? I was there not too long ago, near the end of last year, and there was no such things. Was a terrible place though, I walked in there at like 18:00 on a Friday, saw that there was literally nothing going on, walked back out and the kid at the counter went "you want your R20 back?" and I said "sure, thanks" and then left.

Would love to know how the Bryanston Organic Market compares - never been there.

Thanks for sharing Paul, Fourways Farmers Market has just been scratched off the list of places I was planning to visit in the near future.

Best time would have been to go on a Sunday around lunchtime, lots of food stalls and what not. But seeing as we not welcome there guess you'll never find out ha ha

Sorry to derail your thread, but do the casino security also hold duplicate keys to the public gun safes, (we go often to gold reef and monte)?
