Re: Compact MSR / carbine options?
A lot of carbines are blowback hence higher recoil. The lightweight barrel AR rifles ie colt 6720 are really light with lightweight handguards.Very hard to beat weight wise.

Re: Compact MSR / carbine options?
Did you try the AR with the stock set shorter ?
Try a Colt 6720. Mine with ALG rails weights about nothing.

Yes, I shortened the stock on one (Daniel Defence?) with 16" barrel and a long hand rail but it was still cumbersome. Even with shortened stock it felt as heavy as another one we tried at Huntex at a previous year and one or two others I played with. That is why I thought about a shortened barrel or maybe a bullpup configuration. A lighter rail will help as well.

Re: Compact MSR / carbine options?
Maybe we should place some details for the OP.
Short rifle description and weight with fully loaded mag.

Re: Compact MSR / carbine options?
I would appreciate it but it would still be dead words on paper.
Just like blink stefaans made up his mind to buy a Glock after he test fired it next to a CZ, there will come a time that we have to test fire some MSRs and carbines to know what we want.
