Is there a reason why no-one is suggesting a handgun with a RONI platform to fill the need...?

Weighing up a G17/9 in a RONI for example against the Scorpion EVO -to my mind the handgun platform (versatility) comes up top..

Many years ago I shot alot with the older Ruger PC 9mmP semi rifle. I enjoyed shooting that alot.
Plus as 9mmP reloads are alot cheaper then 223. You could shoot it probabaly 4-5 times more for same cost

I see Ruger launched the new PC in 9mmP and seems you can even take barrel off easy.

I would look into this as well.

Only reason I would go for the 9mmP over 223 options is ammo cost.

And what better time than the upcoming Gauteng Firearm Festival on the 14th and 15th of April?

There will be loads of SBRs to compare... from .556 to .50 Beowolf,,, and loads of 9mm Carbines. Shoot them and make up your mind.

Shooty, I agree with this. The 223 has a better trajectory, better accuracy etc.

We would have to invest a little time and money in research - especially the hands-on type

The Ruger web page states they take Glock magazines as well.

I do remember Big T mentioning that "Ruger makes good revolvers". Does that apply here as well? (Did you have trouble with FTE's, FTF's etc?)

Paul, if by any means possible we will be there.

Never had issues with feeding even Lead reloads.
With the older PC model ive shot. Its at least around 10-15 years old.
The one I use to shoot is actually currently standing at Taurus Indoor Range in Parow CPT.
That model only took Ruger Pistol mags.

I just bought a Ruger Mark iV Tactical 22 with wood grips.
Never was a huge Ruger fan. But the new Marks IV's are just great.

Friend of mine just received license for a CZ Evo. So anxiously waiting for his card so I can feel it shoot.

    I currently reload 223 for close to 9mmP cost- R2.00 versus R1.80.
    60sent S&B primer
    90 sent S321 powder
50 sent 55gr CMJ frontier shooter bullet

Apart from the equipment cost, 223 is thus not really more expensive if you have brass.

That must be really old stock on the 55gr Frontier. Aren't they closer to R1,30 each?

It is stock Frontier sell to clubmembers due to usually irregular plating.
