    The 308 win with a 130 grain mono allows it to nip at the heals of a 270 Win in terms of MV and trajectory.
    For a Free state or Karoo hunt this will make a nice fairly flat shooting combination for all animals up to Kudu/Wildebeest size.

    No where have I mentioned standards are best or better than monos. The OP didn't mention if he is hunting bush or plains. Really wouldn't make sense to shoot a mono at 2900fps at an impala at 100m. Perhaps I'm so used to seeing standard lead cores working just fine.

    I'm trying to figure out what's not to like about the combo. Certainly for the open vlaktes, it is brilliant, as you can drop some of the bigger animals (wildebeest, eland) from a distance without having to go magnum. And it will still work fine in the bushveld.
