Starter SLR
Hey guys
Looking at a budget SLR, in 556. What are some good options that are on the budget end of the spectrum. Its not going to be used very seriously (i.e sporting to gain 1st place etc).
Also school me a bit on ar's/ak's what I should know about it going in.

Re: Starter SLR
Go AR
Build up as you go
Don’t fall for the budget options like AK’s etc
With all the hoops we have to jump through you want to do properly

Re: Starter SLR
As pdh said, budget options end up being not. My R5500 Type 56-2 is currently sitting at about 6x the original cost to get it precisely where I want it.
Given your stated requirement, there are several fairly acceptable AR options in the 10-15k range. Hell, even I've got a LE6920 on my to do list now. There are no stupid questions ........ just stupid people

Re: Starter SLR
If it's in your budget, go with a Colt OEM and add the furniture you like. No need to waste money on bits you'll throw away anyway.
