Thread: AR 9mm carbine

    Default AR 9mm carbine

    Hi

I would like your opinion on getting a 9mm AR, the reason for 9mm is that I have all the ammo and reloading kit for the 9mm and not for the .223 or 556.

What is the best AR of the bunch and the cost?
What performance issues will I have shooting at over 100m?

    Thanks

    Are you in Gauteng?

There will be several 9mm ARs (including Colt and New Frontier Armory) on test at the Gauteng Firearm Festival in Jhb this weekend.

I have the DM4 AR in 9mm and really enjoy it. I reload also and makes life super easy, plus you can shoot PCC with SADPA. Probably not the best for distance shooting though as I run a red dot.

Go and test some and see what you like!

Have you considered something like the CZ Scorpion Evo?

Personally I prefer something built around the intended calibre.

I built mine using colt pattern mags, 4.5"bbl ........................ I have no issues with center of chest hits at 100m.

Is the CZ Scorpion Evo licensed as a pistol? I'd like to get my hands on one, if it is the case.

Guys... tread VERY carefully with this one. Even if the Evo (with stock) was imported as a pistol... attempting to licence one as a pistol would entail making a false declaration on your 271.

You may get away with it... but...

Out of interest, what defines it NOT as a pistol? Surely if it's a "pistol" on CFR's system then that's how it should be licensed?
