    Default Stupid dedicated question

    Hi Guys,

    Sorry for the stupid question...

Let's say I would like dedicated staus for the main purpose to be able to hold more than 200 rounds (mainly 9mm) and in a distant future buy an AR or AK.
I currently hold an s13 license for my 9mm EDC.

For instance, I can sing up with Natshoot and do the whole process with them.
Do the complete online test as well as the practical.
I will then receive my certificate or whatever document I am issued.

Do I need to do any further process with SAPS to be viewed as a dedicated sports shooter or can I go to my LGS with the nhsa documents and just buy ammo?
OR do I need to apply for an s16 firearm and then I would be entitled to buy unlimited ammo?

    thanks and forgive my noobiness

No, You dont have to do anything further to be viewed as one.
However your card will still show S13.

So you might want to have this changed.

If you just walk into a shop and show the S13 card.
And merely say but i am dedicated. They will not know.
You will need to carry the Dedicated certificate with you.
So if the card says S16. Its much less of a hassle.

Appreciate the answer! I dont mind carrying the certificate with me when i go to the shops, i can buy bulk ammo every month or 2 and it wont be too much of a hassle...
    Thanks!

    Hi

I slight hi-jack but on a similar note.
If you have dedicated hunter status but you only have 9mm as an S13 firearm can you have more than 200 rounds of 9mm?

Also, some shops just frown at you when you show them the certificate and will still not sell you more than 200 rounds.
In that case, find another shop or get the card changed to S16, which is also a process.

My LGS has copies of (some of) my licenses and dedicated certificates on file. Much more convenient for all of us.

I'm going to be the "Fly in the ointment".

Check out SAPS.gov.za, under forms find the SAPS 540 - Application for authorization to possess more than two hundred rounds of ammunition Sect91 of the FCA 2000.

Chat to your DFO and please stop trying to use "Dedicated Status" to circumnavigate your urge to hoard ammo. I'm sorry if this was not your intent, but that is how I interpreted it.
