    Default Private seller, RAM courier

Please can I ask for a fact check on my understanding of whats needed for me to achieve the transfer by RAM of a rifle I've bought in Cape Town from a private seller to my dealer in JHB who will take it into stock and off his name.

As far as i can tell whats required is:

    1. RAM consent form signed by the owner and waybill
    2. SAPS 534 completed and signed by the owner
3 Certified copy of the owners ID
    4 Original license card

When 2,3 and 4 are delivered to the dealer he takes it off the owners name and into stock and I then apply as per any other dealer stocked firearm.

*edit* the above comes from searching the forum, reading the saps site and forms and speaking to the guy at RAM

Please let me know if I've missed anything.

In the past for me, RAM are only concerned with the copy of your license and the consent form.

534 and 271 are dealt with by you and the current owner.

RAM want to know it’s the current owners firearm and is legal

When I bought a rifle in EL, I paid the seller and gave the details to the gunshop. They then arranged for RAM transfer and dealer stocked it, so they sorted out the forms between them and the seller in order to get it couriered and dealer stock it. After that I got all my necessary forms to apply for the licence from the dealer. Obviously I paid for the service, but it was convenient.
Perhaps ask your shop to do the same for you.

I took delivery of a firearm in November. All Ram cared about was a copy if my id.
