Totally agree. For goodness sake, there were FIVE guards, not just one or two. Unless 4 were sleeping on the job or all five were watching a movie with earphones in their ears. If the guards were really on the lookout, how can not even a warning shot have gone off. Or a panic button pressed at least.

Maybe SANDF should start looking into getting Chubb or ADT security guards for the bases.....

I must say I really believe negligence in this scenario is not hard to believe.
Think what the purpose of these soldiers are, from their own perspective.

We don't really know the details but I would assume the armory is not easy to get in or out.

Does not really sound like the guards were well armed, they don't mention how many were at the gate...
Last year the only robbed the gate guards and got away with 4 or 5 rifles
