The early version CZ75 "short-rail" is not equipped with a "half-cock" position on the hammer.
Most pre-B's however are equipped with this feature to prevent just that failure from occurring.

Insert a primed case into the chamber.

Pull back the hammer 10mm. (That is some distance before it cocks.)

    Release the hammer.

    Primer goes off.

Since then I carry cocked and locked.

Some pre-B's are said to be transitonal models with or without a firing pin block. I do not know to distinguish it visually. Do the test. Be safe, not sorry.

I would strongly suggest you carry that gun cocked and locked.

I also suggest that pistols that don't have decockers are never carried hammer down.

I would get a decocker unit for it , if you want to carry it decocked.

Think about your post shooting procedure...

I have to agree with BigT. If you don't have a de-cocker, rather carry cocked - locked.

It's always dangerous to lower the hammer on a live round manually. It can be done safely, but takes a lot of practice.

AFAIK they were not included in the first P07's sold. Cheap - http://www.jizni.co.za/spare-parts-p...ock&results=11, and designed to be user-fitted.

Some great advice, thanks guys,so then it is Cocked/Locked & Safety "ON"..(will definitely test in time,as mentioned)just to elaborate i LiL bit for obvious reasons:make ready, attach FA, drive to work, hand in FA into Safe storage,work..(without FA)(office bound)..finish work fetch FA etc then drive home,.then circumstances changes(do i carry or put in storage) now that's personnel choice & will depend on what i will be doing,.."Luckily" was only for the sake for working-purposes(working shifts),but when i am not, then it's a whole different story altogether. On the belt/holster there i hopefully can fit & test to see what will be my best option, maybe 2 holster's,who knows? Can someone if possible share round count, changed parts(where something broke) on the CZ 75 as it would give me an idea of what spare-parts to stock later on,i know that this FA is & was a workhorse but rather be safe than sorry..
    regards
    H.

A very good friend has been shooting CZ's for many years. The CZ 75's have a name for cracking slides, but that is only because recoil springs have not been changed every 5000 shots.

If carrying C&L, get a spare hammer spring.

    Change mag springs yearly.

There are one or more regular spares but I don't know the correct names.
