    Default 18650 vs CR123

Is there any benefit to changing out my 18650's for the CR's? Wondering if there is a difference in run time?

Before you do, make sure your torch will handle both. 2 x CR123's deliver a higher voltage than a single 18650 and if the torch doesn't support it, it'll ruin it.

Personally, I would keep CR123's as backups as they last a long time, but in primary they'd run a high bill as they are costly to replace. I love my 18650's.

I think a single 18650 decent battery will last longer than two CR123's
Also, the 18650 is rechargeable and you can easily afford to keep a spare charged one handy.

Nitecore even sells a 18650 with integrated micro USB charging port so you don't even need an expensive charger for it anymore.

You’ll see a substantial drop in runtime.

Benefits are that they are significantly lighter, and they give you some heads up that they’re about to fail, unlike the 18650 which normally just shuts you off.

As Toxxyc said 2 CR123 will start with 6V, whereas a charged 18650 should be at 4.2V, so there is a slight chance you might fry your light.

I edc an Plight M1X and have a javelot on my long gun. The striker came with a the spacer to hold 2 CR 123's.

I am quite heavily invested in the 18650's already, I just wondered before getting more if I shouldn't change but I think I'll stick to what I have.

    Thanks Gents.

Get yourself some decent high capacity batteries, and you are GTG

When you buy a 18650, make sure you buy a reputable brand. The highest capacity Li-ion battery currently available is the panasonic 3200mah ones. Any of the brands claiming higher is just lying. The Chinese imports usually struggle to reach 600mah.

High capacity and make sure they are protected. You don't want one to explode on you.
