A friend of mine use them exclusively and he does very well with them. Ons similar shots with similar animals at similar speeds results have been similar to mine (I use 150gr Interbonds) HOWEVER, he knows not to place an SST right on a bigger animal's shoulder, where I would have done so and would do so again with the equivalent Interbond.
I've shot SSTs a lot at gongs and paper, and I've always had excellent accuracy with them.

Re: Hornady
I used a 165gr SST with a high shoulder shot on a kudu cow @ 60m. We threw away the front quarter because the meat was bloody. Others might have better experiences.
For head and neck shots I have never heard any complaints.

Re: Hornady
My experience with SST's are 150gr in a .270, and I've had 3 shots on 3 occasions, all successful.
I have however just completed load development for my 308 Howa yesterday. 180gr SST @ 2560fps seems to look great. Will be testing them end of June on a hunt

Re: Hornady
Just remember the SST is Super Shock Tip. So its designed to deliver as much possible energy into target.
So you more then likely as DSJ said will get meat damage where it enters.
I would really like them to start bringing out ELD-X in 150 or 155.
As Teh ELD-Match is brilliant.
As for the Hornady brand of ammo. I am a huge fan of anything Hornady.
