I use a nylon brush as it is less abrasive. Doesn't really matter though as inside of your barrel is much tougher than a copper brush.
Do not drown your Glock with oil. Once cleaned I dry off excess oil and make sure there is a drop of oil on contact points. Many years ago my boet caused serious malfunctions from drowning his Glock 19 in oil. Gunsmith put it in turps bath twice to remove excess oil but it was never 100% reliable after the "drowning" incident.
