    Default AR Magnified Optic

I'm looking at options for an 1-6x optic for my AR for around R10k. So far it seems that these fall into my budget:

    Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x24
    Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x24
    Rudolph 1-6x24
    Lynx LX3 1-6x24

Is there any other budget options I'm missing?

And are they true 1x at their 1x setting?

Have just bought the Strike Eagle 1-8, following a great deal of research.

Plus the Vortex “no BS” lifetime warrantee is an awesome plus!!

Avoid the Rudolph. At the rifle nationals last year two went down

From my research I would go for the Lynx out of those you mentioned. What about the Vortex Viper PST Gen 2 1-6x24, isn't that very close to the Lynx in price?

Saw some Hawkes going at a really good price a few weeks back at Huntex, 1x-6x as well.

The glass on the Strike Eagle 1-8 looked better (indoors albeit) than the 1-6's ive looked at previously.

Thanks all, will go and have a look at one.
With it set at 1x will function similarly to a red dot, i.e allow for both eyes open shooting?
I'm sure a high end red dot will still have some advantages over it but will this be a good compromise to get a close range and medium range optic in one device?

The red dot will be a touch quicker on close fast stuff. But a LPVO offers the best compromise across a a variety of uses.
