Let's hope in the favour of removing renewals in order to make sure there is no back log to alleviate pressure on the current licensing system?

The new apps are done at CFR Pretoria, And the renewals at you local Provincial office.
I renewed in first week May. The first Friday the 4th. And last week Monday received SMS renewal approved.

I applied 300 days prior to my SD license expiry, took them 367 days to approve and supply the card, this was long before the rush...

Sections 24 & 28 been declared constitutional, with no provision for late applications.

The CC upheld the appeal and set aside the declaration in invalidity of sections 24 and 28 by the High Court. Court ruled that all three arguments of invalidity – (i) vagueness and irrationality; (ii) equality; and (iii) deprivation of property – failed since the FCA sufficiently provides for these. The court did not say anything about “what now” for those who have failed to renew in time.
