Value of firearms with expired licenses

Just leaving this here....
At R5000.00 (conservative average per firearm) the total amounts to at least R 2 250 000 000.00 for the estimated 450 000 expired licenses.

It'll be more, but the cops will try apply "market value" to an unsaleable item and give you zero as compensation.

Market value implies a fair rate between willing buyer and seller. But we are now faced with scenario where those firearms cannot be sold, traded, relicenced or reapplied for. I put it to you sir, under such conditions the value of said firearms is ZERO

The market value is no more than a few hundred thousand Rand in total. The FCA provides for maximum compensation of R500 for a hangun and R1000 for a rifle. This was tested and found to be lawful in the Justice Alliance case IIRC.

The point remains, it is theft. The real value of the property is way more than a few Billion rand. That is what the owners had to pay.

Regrettably and sad to say im with Andre above. At this point its not clear if you can apply again for these firearms. Or transfer to dealer.
So in theory the value is currently R0-00.
