Tripod for Spotting Scope
Good Day
I have recently purchased a Spotting Scope and a Bushnell Mini Tripod. The tripod is very compact but very unstable for the spotting scope.
I would like advice on what other tripods I can look at that will provide a very sturdy platform. I would use the spotting scope in the prone position or on a table, not standing.
Not sure on whether or not I need a ball head or not. The current tripod I have has a ball head that won’t lock in securely once I’m on target.
Thanks in advance

Re: Tripod for Spotting Scope
Have a look a camera tripods. Normally quite sturdy and better priced than shooting stuff.

https://www.takealot.com/mivision-37...d/PLID42534230 - I use this one, nice and stable and light. Has a weight limit though.
https://www.shootingstuff.co.za/trip...ronograph.html - Bit more pricey but sturdy AF!

Re: Tripod for Spotting Scope
I'm considering this one for prone and bench use as well.

Re: Tripod for Spotting Scope
you do NOT need a ball head. a cheap ball head is just shite, and a decent one quite expensive...
A good camera tripod with sturdy THICK legs will serve you well.

Re: Tripod for Spotting Scope
Thanks for the replies. I will look to to the camera tripod route.
Found this on take a lot at a 50% discount. Any one has experience with it for a spotting scope?
Check this out on takealot.com, https://www.takealot.com/manfrotto-c...k/PLID50067255
Also have seen reviews of Vanguard tripods. Will need to go in a store and have a look at them in person.

Re: Tripod for Spotting Scope
Some Feedback.
I went with the Manfrotto compact advanced tripod with ball head.
It works great. Stable platform for the spotting scope. It is too high on its lowest height setting for prone use but from kneeling to standing it works really well.
Comes with a quick detach plate to mount to the spotting scope and a carry case.
