G19 slide locks back before mag empty

My guess is that you are bumping the slide stop up under recoil. Something in your grip must’ve changed.

Take the empty gun and hold it upside down and cycle it. See if it locks open.

Could be my grip hand's thumb is nudging the slide release up?

Firstly there are things you will get wrong. The you tube armourers courses misses things

When I get tired I seem to grip down on my slide stop. For some reason I get failures to lock back towards the end of a two day shoot, I still don’t know how I manage to screw up my grip.

I have experienced the same issue intermittently on my Glocks. I never suspected mechanical issues. Traced it down to my thumb bumping the slide stop when the pistol recovers from recoil.

(My 1911-enduced high thumb grip does not really help either. I like to ride the thumb safety on pistols equipped with them. If I don't, I tend to occasionally bump the safety up.)

I solved the issue by cutting down the Glock slide stop tabs to minimal dimensions. Others hate to shoot my guns, as they can't reach the slide stop. Not my problem.

I still shoot high thumb.The Swenson ambi comes off and my thumb stays on it. Been doing it for 44 years and dont see much of a chance of re writing the conditioning, and yes. still shoot Weaver for the same reason. I also do not like extended slide releases, fortunately I was blessed with long thumbs and can easily reach the standard slide release.
