But I know one thing that never dies,
the glory of the great dead.

Re: South African contract FN Paratrooper parts
Tend to think that the para carrier is not as smooth as the rifle version. Figure that it is because of the spring being more central on the rifle carrier whilst with the para being higher up it cants the front of the carrier down. Evident from wear pattern on a few para carriers I have.

Re: South African contract FN Paratrooper parts
I have two DS arms rifles. The upper and lower receivers were really loose fitting. Neither the gunshop nor the agents could get their heads around the problem. After contacting DS arms Daniel Lombard sent replacement parts which sorted the problem. My advice if you are having issues with any DS arms products, contact Daniel Lombard directly!
The hate against DS arms seems to have increased after they started manufacturing cast receivers instead of forged. I have never heard of a cast receiver failing, but I am happy I have forged ones!

Re: South African contract FN Paratrooper parts
Right now the lowers and uppers are out of spec such that they sometimes can't lock up at all. The dimensions are wrong. The latest lowers are even having issues locking up with in-spec uppers. Someone also found examples of them cutting the gas piston hole off-centre and it looks like they basically saw the problem and instead of pulling the bad receiver, just opened up the hole untilt eh piston would pass through and sold it like that. There have also been issues with the fit of bolt carrier and with the bolts cracking. Magazines often won't fit unless they are DSA-made (and sometimes not even then), while DSA magazines have reliability issues in in-spec rifles.
The issue with the uppers is that they are simply out-of-spec. It's not that they started casting them, it's that they started making them in-house. LMT made them previously using Steyr blueprints and those receivers have a great reputation. Their in-house forged receivers also have quality controul issues.

...and let's not talk about the test rifles they supplied to SAN Parks where the hammers snapped off after a few rounds...
