Any .338-06 out there?
I am considering a custom build rifle in .338-06
On paper it look like a great all rounder and was wondering if there is any rifles in active use on the forum?
Secondly is there any loads available for any Somchem propelant to work from?

I would rather consider the 338 Sabi built by Sabi Rifles in Nelspruit.
Cases and dies availible locally and shooting a proudly South African caliber.

Or use a 9.3x62 - my personal favourite

Re: Any .338-06 out there?
I had a Model 700 Remington rechambered to .338-06 A.I. (40 degree). I had a muzzle brake put on it and it's a fine shooter. Trouble is it's too much gun for the 130 lb. deer that I hunt. I prefer a Nosler 210 gr. bullet with it.

Isnt the .338 Sabi almost identical to the 338-06? From what I read 338-06 brass can easily be neked up from 3006.

Maybe consider a 338 WM. It can be loaded down to 338-06 specs and all components and dies are availble.

Re: Any .338-06 out there?
If I had the means I would build a .338-06, and not the Sabi. I don't like having to buy brass and dies from them as well. For the -06 you can use Lapua brass and fireform or run through a sizer. I think the caliber makes a lot of sense for our conditions.
