Ripping chunk out of case
Why does my Stag Arms extractor try to rip a piece of the rim out of the cases? I can clearly see the part where the extractor made contact with the rim. Twice it ripped that part out and I had to knock the case out from the muzzle end. It does it on military ball and reloads(24gr S321 with 55gr Frontier Cmj).

Re: Ripping chunk out of case
Must be the rutting season, stags try and kill everything in that season.

Re: Ripping chunk out of case
Had the same issue with my NEA. Had the chamber polished and the problem was fixed.

Re: Ripping chunk out of case
I want to say it's overgassed but I don't even have an AR or am even vaguely qualified to say so. So there is that little problem.... So I'm going with Traytons suggestion.

Re: Ripping chunk out of case
What buffer are you running? Internet wisdom suggests a heavier buffer delays extraction slightly. An adjustable gasblock may also work if your rifle is overgassed.

Re: Ripping chunk out of case
I do not think I could change the the chamber profile with a bit of wet water paper. I will see if I can attach some pics of the marks.
The primers look normal and not extremely flattened. There is a very light ejector mark on the rim of the cases what have been shot but you can clearly see where the extractor got hold of the rim.
I use the standard out of the box gas block, buffer and recoil spring but I have installed a comp on it. I can not see that the comp might change anything.
