Default Forgotten Weapons: South African Galils

Very informative video on the R4, R5, R6 and LM series.

Only saw your post now. Ah well, a very good video nonetheless. I also want a fully automatic wire cutter.

Great clip. Must just say that I experienced my first battle incapacitating jam on my R4 yesterday after 22 years of using R4's. Had to use the boot to clear the jam.

But I must also say that it was ammo related.

He mentions then not being issued, but I know we had them on our R5's in SW late 80s

How were they mounted? Can't seem to figure it out from the video. I have a pristine LM5 and I don't want to ruin it with modifications, yet a red dot will be nice.

The dots is still in SANDF use. Have not seen them for sale on the open market. We used to fit then to rifles and shotguns over open gun years ago.

Meh. We were DPs. More interested in breaking things and drinking than seeing how they actually worked.
